The club Chelsea was founded by GUS MEARS in 1905, after his death his descendant continued the ownership until 1982, Ken Bates purchased it from Mears’s great nephew Brian Mears for £1 then in July 2003 the ROMAN AMBRAMOVICH bought it for £140million.


Chelsea became the first London based club to win the UEFA champions and four European trophies, and they also kept the record of being unbeaten between march 2004 to October 2008.

After winning the 2012 -2013 UEFA Europa league Chelsea became the fourth club in history to have won the Europa treble of the Europa cup /UEFA champions League, European cup winners’ cup and UEFA cup/UEFA League. Chelsea is the first English club to have won all the three major UEFA trophies

Until 1986, Ken Bates changed the crest again as another attempt to modernize it. Since the old rampant lion badge could not be trademarked. The new badge featured a more naturalistic non- heraldic lion in white and not blue standing. After19 years, with some modification with the new ownership of ROMAN AMBRAMOVICH and the club centenary approach combined with the demand from the fans for the popular 1950s badge to be restored. They then decided that the crest be changed in 2005 -06 season and this had a return of the older design used from 1953 -1986 featuring a blue heraldic lion holding a staff, for the centenary season.

Chelsea had regularly won blue shirt, although they originally used the pale Eton blue which was adopted from the racing colors of the club president (earl Cadogan) and was worn with white socks and dark blue socks. The light blue shirt were replaced by a royal blue version. Then by 1960, Chelsea manager Tommy Docherty changed it to blue short and white socks which has remained ever since.
